Los Angeles firefighters battled high winds while putting out a heavy blaze that erupted at a commercial building housing multiple businesses Monday.

More than 100 Los Angeles firefighters extinguished a large blaze that erupted at a produce business building Monday.

The fire broke out at about 3:20 p.m.at a large commercial building that housed a produce market in downtown Los Angeles, the fire department said. The market had been open at the time, and all inside were able to escape the burning building safely.

Crews faced high winds, which stoked the flames and affected the water streams, according to the department. The fire had 112 firefighters responding, and they were able to stop the blaze from spreading to a second building, which was threatened.

It took nearly two hours to put out the flames, which left the building in ruins, the department said. No one was injured in the blaze.

The fire comes almost a month after a massive blaze and explosion injured 12 Los Angeles firefighters.
